ASSIGNMENT

Create a clicker game in Unity for desktop PC.

OUR AIM

I wanted t create a fun experience rather than an addictive clicker. I wanted to use nostalgia and comedy. In this game Rod Black is a sad dreamer that aims high and works himself  from the very bottom to the top floor of a skyscraper. As a player you need to sign bands, manage them well and make impressions. Every choice you make leads to new contacts. Each band has its own lore and are more or less attractive for the public. It’s more of a management clicker than an idle clicker.  The band is valued by two parameters: Popularity and Awareness.

MY ROLE

I designed the whole concept and led the team as the only game designer. This  was my first project.

WORKING PROCESS

Being my first game project I reached for more then I could get and created an expressive workload – both for myself and the team. I did:

  • Write GDD
  • Led the team through daily scrums using Trello
  • Design UI and HUD
  • Wrote all dialog boxes and lore
  • Guided music designers
  • Editing trailer

tHE RESULT

The game came out quite cute and have a nice concept that I still appreciate. I love the character, the comedy and the usage of the music. Being a clicker the gameplay has one problem – it ends – but for something made in two weeks – it’s expected.

The song “Vi var trouble” (We were trouble) is a nostalgic trip back to the nighties and a mixture of Anjas and my own troublesome memories. It’s an ambitious zero budget production.
